If your Ziva EasyVac can no longer build up a vacuum, the most common cause is a sealing ring (gasket) that has slipped out of the groove in the lid. This black rubber ring provides the airtight seal needed for the device to function. When this ring has shifted, even partially, the device cannot generate sufficient suction.

This problem most commonly occurs when the device is stored with the lid closed and locked. In this position, the sealing ring is under constant pressure. Over time, this pressure causes the ring to deform and gradually be pushed out of the groove. Page 3 of the product manual explicitly states: "Never store the product with the lid closed/locked. This damages the seals."

The good news: in most cases, returning or repairing the device is not necessary. The ring can be repositioned at home without any tools.

What you need to do:

1. Remove the lid from the device and place it on a clean, flat surface with the inside facing up.

2. Inspect the rubber sealing ring along its entire circumference. Look for any sections that have popped out of the groove.

3. Press the rubber ring firmly back into the groove with your fingertip. Work your way around the entire circumference, making sure no part is raised or loose.

4. Once the ring is flat and fully seated in the groove, reattach the lid and run a test cycle.

5. If the machine draws a normal vacuum, the problem is resolved. From now on, always store the device with the lid open or at least unlocked.

Prevent this from happening again: Always store the Ziva EasyVac with the lid open or in the unlocked position. Storing the device in a locked state continuously compresses the sealing ring, which will cause the same problem to recur.

If the device still does not vacuum properly after repositioning the ring, the gasket may be damaged and will need to be replaced. In that case, please contact an authorised service centre for further assistance.

Conclusion

A displaced sealing ring is a problem that can be prevented and fully resolved. By pressing the ring back into the groove and adjusting the way you store the device, your Ziva EasyVac will function properly again. Should the problem persist after this fix, an authorised service centre can assess whether the sealing ring needs to be replaced.
